Fire Breaks Out In Delhi’s South Block That Houses PMO, Defence and Foreign Ministry’s Offices

A fire broke out on Sunday at Gate number 8 of the South Block.

Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi is flanked by these two very important buildings (North and South Block) that house some of the key departments of the Indian Government.  The Ministry of External Affairs is largely located in South Block, a building that also houses the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Defence.

Reportedly, the fire broke out at gate no. 8 near MEA’s wing of South Block.

Immediately after the news broke, around 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

As per latest reports, the fire has been put out.  As of now, there are no reports of anybody being injured in the fire, but emergency services are still at the site. Since it was a Sunday there were reportedly very few people in the building.

The cause of the fire is still not known and more details are awaited.
