In a landmark judgement for Tamil Nadu politics, AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala was on Tuesday convicted by the Supreme Court in a disproportionate assets case. The verdict set aside the Karnataka High Court judgement acquitting her in the 19-year-old disproportionate assets case that also involved former chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
The two-judge bench comprising Justices P C Ghose and Amitava Roy directed Sasikala and her two relatives involved in the case to surrender to the trial court in Bengaluru and serve the remaining part of four year jail term they had been sentenced to.
With such a big twist in Tamil Nadu politics, here’s how Twitterati reacted:
Sasi: I am a Lion 🦁
Judge: Then go inside the cage 😂#sasikalaconvicted #DACase— Naveen Murugesan (@naveenmurugesh) February 14, 2017
Expectation: 4 years as chief minister.
Reality – 4 years in Jail#DACase— Ishaan Dhurka (@ishaandhurka) February 14, 2017

But the AIADMK wasn’t quite so happy and tweeted that Sasikala had always carried Jayalalithaa’s burden.
