This 9-Year-Old Girl Spent Her Birthday Savings To Buy 30 CCTV Cameras For Chennai Police

S. Srihita, a 9-year-old girl from Chennai is being lauded on social media after she spent ₹1.5 lakh saved for her birthday celebrations to buy CCTV cameras for Chennai Police.

According to a report by Times Now, S. Srihita got to know about the importance of CCTV cameras when she attended a meeting organised by Chennai Police near her father’s office.

She then decided to contribute the money her father had saved for her birthday celebrations to the state police department.

A few days later, she and her father bought 30 CCTV cameras and donated them to the police.
Speaking to The Hindu, H. Krishnamoorthy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Royapettah, said:

I was speaking to Sathyanarayana about CCTV cameras. He may have then spoken about it at home. Srihitha is a fan of former IPS officer Kiran Bedi, who is the Lt. Governor of Puducherry. She spoke to me over the phone and later told her dad that she wanted to donate her birthday savings to the police.

Her contribution was recognised by the Chennai Police Commissioner AK Vishwanath during the inauguration of the CCTV cameras.
