Govt Cancels 45 NRI Passports For Being The ‘Non-Reliable Individuals’ Who Abandoned Their Wives

The Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has announced that the government has cancelled passports of 45 NRIs (non-resident Indians) for abandoning their wives, reports NDTV

The government has also made an Integrated Nodal Agency that has issued ‘look-out’ circulars to NRI men who are absconding after marriage.

 Maneka Gandhi further said that the government also introduced a bill regarding the same in the Parliament but she is dissapointed that it got stalled in the Upper House.

The said bill was a joint initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs, External Affairs Ministry, Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ministry of Law and Justice.
