After Three Doctors, Police Arrest A Haryana Cop In The Faridabad Journalist Suicide Case

Days after a local woman journalist Pooja Tiwari allegedly jumped to death from her residential building, a police inspector, has been arrested in connection with the case. 

Amit Vashishtha, an inspector with the Haryana police, was present in the apartment when Tiwari fell from the fifth floor of the apartment building in Faridabad. He is accused of abetment to suicide and charged under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code, says this report by The Times of India.

Tiwari’s father also accused Vashishtha of harassing his daughter. A sound clip had emerged that allegedly shows a argument between the cop and the woman just before her suicide.

According to a police spokesperson, Vashishtha was produced before a court which sent him to four-day police remand. Police has sent the suicide note of the journalist for verification and investigation is underway.

Police also found an alleged suicide note from Pooja’s room, which has been sent for forensic analysis to examine its authenticity, according to a Hindustan Times report.

Earlier, police had registered an FIR for abetment to suicide against three local doctors who had filed a police complaint against the journalist accusing her of extortion after she executed a sting operation against the doctors.
