This Raksha Bandhan, Haryana Will Open Women Police Stations In All Its Districts

With the rise in crimes like rape, molestation and eve-teasing against women across the country, w omen safety has become one of the prime concerns among the various issues that the central and state governments have to deal with.

Though only a few state governments have successfully implemented measures to deal with such crimes, the awareness is increasing day by day.

Haryana government has announced that it will install separate functional women police stations in all 21 districts by August 29. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said that it will be the second state after Tamil Nadu to have such police stations in the country.These police stations would have female staff and function round-the-clock.

Each women police station will have one lady Deputy Superintendent of Police, two Sub Inspectors, three assistant Sub Inspectors, four Head Constables and 16 constables.

The police stations would have two Bolero Jeeps, one Tavera and three motorcycles with female drivers and 35 women PCRs (Police Control Room) would be attached to these women police stations. Also, there would be help line numbers with 1091 as last four digits same as the women help line number.

There will be Counseling Centers set up in the premises of these police stations so as to dispose of various issues like family disputes, dowry cases through mediation.

The Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure wide publicity of these women police stations at the places having large women population like schools, colleges and other public places so that maximum women could avail the facility of these police stations.
