Amid the ongoing two top controversies of our country, one being the JNU crackdown and other being the Jat reservation, here is a martyred soldier who was a part of both the two.
The 22-year-old Captain Pawan Kumar laid down his life fighting against terrorists in Pampore, Kashmir on Sunday.
Here is all you need to know about the Jat soldier who has a degree from JNU:
- Hailing from Jind, Haryana, Captain Kumar was born on January 15, 1993 which is observed as the Army Day.
- He graduated from the 123 course of the National Defence Academy and got commissioned into the Army with 10 Para Special Forces on December 14, 2013, barely making it less than three years of service.
- Before the Pampore encounter, Captain Kumar had already taken part in two successful counter-terrorist operations in which three terrorists were killed.
- “I had one child, I gave him to the Army, to the nation. No father can be prouder,” was his father Rajbir Singh’s reaction when he was informed about the loss of his son.
- “Pawan Kumar was a young and a dynamic officer, He was a true commander”, said Lt. Gen. S.K. Dua, General Officer Commanding of Udhampur based 15 Corps. His mortal remains will be transported by air to Jind on Monday for last rites.
