Yet another dramatic day unfolded in Tamil Nadu as an emotional AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala took the inevitable journey from Poes Garden in Chennai to Bengaluru to surrender before the court in disproportionate assets case.
Here is all the craziness that marked the day:
- When she thumped Amma’s memorial thrice
Before leaving for Bengaluru, VK Sasikala made a quick but dramatic stop at Jaya memorial, MGR’s residence vowing to return to politics.
She stood there with folded hands for some time before angrily thumping the Samadhi, apparently pledging to stage a comeback and restore the proud legacy of Jayalalithaa.
“No force can separate me from AIADMK, no matter where I’ll be, I’ll always think about party”, she said.
- A sobbing farewell
At the Jayalalithaa memorial, Sasikala made her way through the crowd of supporters that included a sobbing former minister Gokula Indira and Deputy General Secretary and her nephew T T V Dinakaran, and put up a brave face.
- A kidnapping charge
VK Sasikala was charged with kidnapping by a lawmaker who had claimed a dramatic escape from the luxury resort where over 100 AIADMK MLAs have camped for a week.
The police complaint was filed by S Saravanan, the lawmaker who claims he climbed the walls of the resort dressed in a T-shirt and Bermuda.
- An attack on car carrying Sasikala’s clothes
Vehicles that accompanied Sasikala’s convoy including the car that had Sasikala’s clothes were vandalised by unknown people in Bengaluru.
- An inconvenient request
Sasikala had requested for the same cell where Jayalalithaa was kept in Bengaluru, however, jail authorities refused to consider her request. Jayalalithaa had also spent 21 days in the same prison.
She also had a list of other demands.
- Kaidi number 10711
For the next four years, Sasikala will be prisoner number 10711 at the Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru.
In the jail, Sasikala would be given the job of making candles and incense sticks and would be given a daily wage of Rs 50 . Sundays would be working too. She would be given three sarees to wear and would have to share her cell with two other women.
