It’s a train that’s been in the making for years now and finally it’s here. Mumbai is likely to get its first local train on the suburban rail network that will be fully air conditioned in March.

Some newspapers have managed to get a look inside the new train that will be making its debut in the city this year. And here’s what it looks like:

In an exclusive report, DNA said that the seats are the same colour as the new generation rakes that have been introduced on the railway line. But the major differentiating factor is that like the metro, all the coaches of the train are connected with each other and passengers will be able to walk from one compartment to the other while the train in in motion.

The rake has been in the making since July 2014 in the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai and the report said that the train would be sent to Mumbai by the first week of March.

The Western Railways will be getting the first air-conditioned local that will run on the suburban railway line. According to one report, Central Railways has asked for 150 such trains.
