Made In China: Homeowners Promised ‘Park Views’ By Builders, Get Blue Plastic Lake Instead

Homebuyers at a new residential development in China were outraged when they found out that the ‘park views’ they have been promised is nothing but a blue plastic lake. Apparently, the brochure of this new development said: “The days pass slowly, as if you’ve fallen into Peach Blossom Land”, which is a quote from an ancient Chinese fable.

The local media reported that the new residents were distressed by the huge plastic lake in front of their buildings.
Not just that, the builders also installed a bridge over the lake so that the residents can enjoy their *fake* surroundings.

Talking about this fraud, homeowners told the local media:

So I’m supposed to be standing in the middle of blue water, which in fact doesn’t exist. There is no rock or plants. We’re very unhappy about these grass block pavers. They’re usually used for driveways or car parks. But this is not the car park area. It’s the open area right outside each building gate, and they call it vegetation.

However, the Changsha Shiji Yujing Real Estate officials claimed that they had never promised a lake in the first place, and they designed the whole area according to the standards set by the Chinese government. They said:

We did so because we need to take into account both fire safety requirements and landscaping needs.

To resolve this conflict, a meeting has been set between the homeowners and the builders.
