Honda To Recall 57,676 City, Jazz And Civic Cars To Fix Faulty Airbags

Japanese car maker Honda announced on Friday that it will recall a total of 57,676 units of its City, Jazz and Civic models in India to fix faulty driver side airbags. These cars were manufactured between January 2012 and June 2013.

The company’s Indian arm, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said that it will voluntarily replace driver-side airbag inflators of 57,676 vehicles of previous generation of the three models as part of the firm’s preventive global recall campaign concerning air bag inflators.

Here are the cars that will be affected by the recall:

“The replacement would be carried out free of cost at HCIL dealerships across India in a phased manner, starting from February 20, 2016, and the company will communicate with customers directly,” the company said in a statement.

Earlier, in September 2015, Honda had recalled 2.23 lakh units of its premium SUV CR-V, sedans Civic and City, and hatchback Jazz, manufactured between 2003 and 2012, to replace faulty airbag inflators in one of the largest such exercise in the country.

Later, in December 2015, the company announced a recall for 90,210 units of its sedan City and multi-purpose vehicle Mobilio in India, manufactured between December 2013 and July 2015, to replace faulty fuel return pipe.
