A cab driver in Kashmir received a lot of praise for his act of honesty when he found a bag full of valuables including cash and jewellery, worth Rs 10 lakh and returned the items to its rightful owner.

Tariq Ahmad had been the driver for a family from Bhopal and took them sightseeing. After returning from the trip, he found the bag left behind in his car at the Aharbal tourist spot in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, in which he also found three high-end mobiles phones among other belongings.

Ahmad expected a call on one of the three phones by the owner in an attempt to retrieve the bag.

Sources from the Tourist Department also said,

Tariq worked hard to trace the family and finally returned the bag that contained cash, gold and smartphones worth over Rs 10 lakhs.

The Department also added that the family has expressed their gratitude to the driver and also mentioned that Ahmad refused to take any form of reward or gift from the family.
