IFS Officer Drowns In Swimming Pool While Trying To Save A Woman Colleague

Ashish Dahiya, a trainee Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer was found dead on Monday night in a swimming pool of a civil services training institute in South Delhi.

The 30-year-old officer drowned after he along with many others jumped in to save a woman colleague who accidentally slipped in the swimming pool, reported India Today.

Though the woman was pulled out safely, it was noticed that Ashish was missing, His body was later found floating by his fellow colleagues. There were attempts made to revive him through CPR before being taken to Fortis Hospital where he was declared dead at around 1 am.

Enquiries revealed that the late officer was attending a pool side party with his friends on Monday evening where they decided to go for a swim. According to the police, evidence suggest that they were also under the influence of alcohol.

Ashish’s body has been taken to AIIMS for post-mortem and his family who lives in Sonepat, Haryana has also been informed about the incident.
