India tops the list of countries with the highest number of people without access to clean water that stands at 75,777,997.
According to the report ‘Water: At What Cost? The State of the World’s Water 2016′, published by Water Aid, 75.8 million Indians — or 5 percent of the country’s 1.25 billion population — are forced to either buy water at high rates or use supplies that are contaminated with sewage or chemicals.
The report also says that Papua New Guinea is the most difficult and expensive place in the world to access clean water, forcing the poor to spend more than half their income on this essential resource, a charity said on Tuesday.
