Did You Know India Shares Its Independence Day With South Korea?

Korea celebrates its liberation day or Gwangbokjeol on August 15 along with India as we celebrate India’s independence from the British. The holiday is called National Liberation Day of Korea that signifies an end of Japanese rule on the Korea.

Google’s Korea Liberation Day 2015 doodle celebrated the 70th anniversary of the independence of Korea with an image of Hibiscus syriacus flower, also known locally as mugunghwa . The colours white, pink and violet variations abound in late summer and early fall, and its beauty and resilience carry deep symbolic meaning in Korean culture.

Google celebrated the 69th Indian Independence with this doodle, depicting the colours of the flag with people of various faiths, the Dandi March and the curator of India’s freedom movement, Mahatma Gandhi.

Our PM, as expected, tweeted to fellow people in Korea wishing them!
