A woman Army officer has allegedly committed suicide by shooting herself with her service pistol in an Army unit in Jammu, a police officer said on Friday. Major Anita Kumari (36) was found dead in her room with a bullet injury in the head on Thursday night. She allegedly shot herself with her pistol at the unit in Bari Brahamana area, he said.
It appears she has committed suicide, the officer said, adding postmortem of the body is being conducted and a case has been registered in this regard. The forensic team has been sent to the spot for the probe, he said.
Meanwhile, a Court of Inquiry has been ordered by Army in this regard. Maj Anita, who hailed from Himachal Pradesh, belongs to Army Service Corps.
