Indians Drink The Most Whiskey In The World, According To This Report

Pradamini Kumari

As it turns out, Indians are pretty serious about their love for whiskey according to a new report by the Bank Of America Merrill Lynch.

If reports are to be believed, Indians drink about 1.5 billion litres of whiskey. To give you a clearer picture, that accounts to about half of the world’s entire whiskey production. Phew!

Well, the results of the study may sound surprising but, you must keep in mind that India is one of the most populated countries in the world with more than 1.3 billion people. So, on an average, Indians consume more than a liter of whiskey per year.

On the other hand, the United States, France, and Japan trail the list with figures of 462, 140, and 109 million litres respectively.

One Patiala peg coming up. Let’s cheers to that!
