In 2017, the story of Sahar Tabar, an Instagram celebrity in Iran went viral for her extreme cosmetic surgery and visual alterations.It was reported that she underwent 50 surgeries to look like Angelina Jolie. However, she later revealed that it was a mix of photoshop, makeup, and surgery.
According to The Guardian, Tabar faces charges of blasphemy, inciting violence, gaining income through inappropriate means and encouraging youths to corruption.
Tehran’s guidance court, which deals with ‘cultural crimes and social and moral corruption’, ordered her detention.
Most of Tabar’s pictures on Instagram highlight her pouting lips, sharp, upturned nose, and skeletal jawline.
Instagram is the only social media service available in Iran. Facebook and Twitter are banned.
