According to NDTV, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief K Sivan has announced that India is planning to launch its own space station by 2030.
Speaking to the press, K Sivan said:
We have to sustain the Gaganyaan programme after the launch of (the) human space mission. In this context, India is planning to have its own space station.
The proposed space station will weigh around 20 tonnes and is likely to be used for conducting microgravity experiments.
Apart from that, it is expected to accommodate astronauts for upto 15-20 days in space.
Only the United States, Russia, China and a consortium of countries own the International Space Station right now.
India is expected to join the league without taking help or collaborating with any other country.
