Dogs at homes or at work, have always helped their human friends and been there during the toughest of situations.
The same can be said for service dogs who love sniffing out explosives and make it easier for the Indian forces deployed for security purposes.
Putari, one of Indo-Tibetan Border Police’s most active and well-trained canine is one such example.
The dog, posted at 40th Battalion ITBP at Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh, has been named the best service canine for the year 2019.
Apart from a long career with the ITBP, Putari has a history of serving in Naxal-hit areas that are prone to IED explosions.
During one such search operation in Chattisgarh, the animal quickly detected a 20 kg IED and saved a lot of lives.
She simply wagged her tail and kept looking towards her handler until the IED threat was neutralized.
For her unquestionable loyalty and spirit, Putari (meaning daughter in Hindi) is now one of the most decorated service dogs in the country.
