Jammu & Kashmir To Be Bifurcated Into 2 Union Territories After The Abrogation Of Article 370

The government, today, scrapped Article 370, which provides special status to the state of Jammu & Kashmir, through an order signed by President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.

Home Minister Amit Shah also introduced the Reorganization Bill in the Rajya Sabha soon after his announcement to revoke Article 370.

According to the bill, the state of Jammu & Kashmir will be bifurcated into 2 Union Territories – Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

While the UT of J&K will have a legislature, Ladakh will be a UT without a legislature.

This announcement caused massive ruckus in the Rajya Sabha.

The move came after two days of tension and turmoil in the state, including imposition of section 144 and curfew in the entire state.
