J&K Youth Arrested In Madhya Pradesh For Liking & Sharing Anti-India Posts On Facebook

A youth from Jammu and Kashmir has been arrested by Chhattisgarh police on sedition charges after he posted anti-India content on Facebook. The youth identified as Tauseef Ahmad Bhat works with a mobile company in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district and was arrested on Wednesday night following a complaint by the locals.

According to a report by the Indian Express, “The complaint was that Tausif Ahmad, who is from Kashmir, had commented on, liked and shared several things against India, such as ‘India Go Back’, on Facebook. One of these, for instance, was the picture of a rat being swept away by a broom.

A group of local youths had lodged a complaint on August 2 that Bhat had shared anti-India content on his Facebook page. After a preliminary investigation, a team of Durg police nabbed him from Jammu-Tawi Express at Sagar railway station in Madhya Pradesh when he was on his way to Kashmir. He has been booked under section 124 (a) of IPC (sedition), Inspector General of Police, Dipanshu Kabra said.

An FIR has now been registered in the case on the basis of a complaint from Ratan Yadav, the Bhilai coordinator of Bajrang Dal.
