Union minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday reacted to Lady Shri Ram College student Gurmehar Kaur’s social media campaign against ABVP, and stated that she may be misguided by political rivals.

Reacting to Kaur’s viral social media campaign, he said,

Rijiju on Sunday had said nobody has the “absolute right” to define nationalism but anyone who wants to break India and supports terrorists can be called an “anti-national”.

He had tweeted:

The remarks came amidst the ongoing row over clashes between the Communist Party of India (ML)-affiliated AISA and the RSS-backed ABVP in Delhi University’s North Campus.

On Thursday, Rijiju had said freedom of expression in the country does not give people right to make college campuses a hub of anti-national activity and no anti-India slogans will be allowed in the name of freedom of speech.

Meanwhile, Randeep Hooda has also sparked a controversy after he called the student a “political pawn” while responding to journalist Shekhar Gupta’s criticism of Sehwag’s troll.
