From keeping the transgender community in mind to installing solar panels for saving energy, giving women an equal opportunity and being futuristic in its approach, the Kochi Metro is proving to be an exemplary initiative.

Last week, the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) treated hundreds of migrant labourers – who put their heart and soul for years to turn an idea into reality – with a traditional banquet, Sadhya‘.

But that is not all.

On Sunday, they took the entire workforce for a ride on the metro lines which they built. They went from Palarivattom to Aluva and back.

This is what the Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted.

Here are a few pictures.

The workers hail from far-flung places like Assam, Bengal and Bihar, and Kerala is heavily dependent on them in a number of sectors, including construction. The CM of Kerala was extremely glad to see all of their happy faces and congratulated them on giving this dream a concrete shape.

It is so heartwarming to see that the people who actually made this dream a reality are being treated well and their efforts are being appreciated.
