26/11 Mumbai Attack Accused Mastermind Lakhvi Released On Bail By Pakistan Court

The 2008 Mumbai terror attack mastermind and Lashkar-e-taiba chief Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi has been released on bail from Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, after Lahore High Court suspended his detention on Friday, reports NDTV .

Lakhvi who spent six years under detention, received immediate release order by the court.

In a strong reaction the Indian government said the breach of assurances that has been repeatedly conveyed by Pakistan government to India is highly condemned.

“This is a serious setback, it’s deeply disappointing,” Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called the prospect of Lakhvi walking free “a shock to all those who believe in humanity”.

His supporters were present outside the court to welcome him.

Lakhvi and six others have been charged with planning and executing the 2008 Mumbai terror attack that lasted three days, killed 166 people and wounded over 300.
