The World’s Largest Swimming Pool Is The Size Of 11 Football Fields & It’ll Take Your Breath Away

Unassumingly sitting pretty in Chile is a pool so massive, it could fit 20 Olympic-size pools inside it, maybe even more. Officially recognised as the largest swimming pool in the world, this water wonderland is located in the San Alfonso Del Mar resort in Algarrobo. To really understand the mammoth body of water that this truly is, you should take a look at some of the pictures.

The pool is a dizzying 3,323 feet long and, at its maximum depth, reaches 3.5m (11.5ft).

This is what the pool looks like via satellite!

In fact, it’s so massive, you can even go sailing inside it (and jump in for a scuba dive while at it).

The total size of the tank is a ridiculous 19.77 acres, the size of 11 football fields!

The pool was built by Fernando Fischmann, chairman and founder of Crystal Lagoons. Constructing it took five long years, and it costs $2 million in annual upkeep. It works using a computer controlled system that sucks water directly from the sea and then filters it before pumping it into the pool. Also, it holds 66 million gallons of water. Hot damn!

The pool is an amazing, otherworldly sight, and makes me want to take a dip (or a sail) ASAP, especially considering the heat!
