Man Carried Wife’s Body For 45 Km In Cart After Hospital Allegedly Refused To Arrange An Ambulance

A man in Prayagraj had to carry his wife’s body for almost 45 kilometers after hospital authorities failed to provide him with a hearse to carry her body. 

The man, who identified himself as Kallu had apprently admitted his wife for treatment for head injuries at the Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) hospital in the city. According to him, the wife died in the hospital during the treatment.

Post the woman’s death, Kallu repeatedly requested the hospital authorities to provide him with a hearse, to carry his wife’s body back to their village of Shankargarh, but the authorities did not go through with his request. He was then forced to carry his wife’s body on a cart for almost 45 km. 

Uttar Pradesh’s Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The minister has also said that strict action will be taken against those found guilty of negligence. Medical Officer of SRN hospital AK Srivastava has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the incident, however they have found no record of the patient. They have not issued any death certificate for the deceased either.
