The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment makes it possible for elderly to donate their property or land in case they are being neglected by their children or if there’s no provision in place for their welfare.

Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 is the legislation in place to check such incidents.

Khetramohan Mishra also alleged that the couple had made several attempts to kill him but he survived. He spoke to the media, saying:

I have taken the decision because of the misbehaviour of my son and daughter-in-law. I have signed my will. I will spend the rest of my life in an old age home. I want the government to construct an old-age home over my land to give shelter to old people like me.
