While activists everywhere around the world are launching campaigns advocating the importance of sexual consent, a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannuaj doused his wife’s genitals with acid after she refused to have sex with him.
Ved Pal and his wife had been married for 7 years and were living in a village named Behrin with their 2 kids. Even though they were married, the couple was estranged.
When Ved Pal made sexual advances to his wife, she denied them. This made him furious and he beat her up. But he didn’t stop at that and poured a chemical, possibly acid, into her private parts with the help of a few other people.
The woman’s father, Kedar Singh, got to know about the incident from the neighbours who called him after seeing her injuries.
The victim has been admitted to the district hospital in a serious condition. A formal complaint has been lodged and police are investigating the case.
