In Pictures: Incessant Rains, Flash Floods Create Havoc In Manipur

The flood situation in parts of Manipur has turned very grim with heavy rains disrupting normal life. A landslide triggered by heavy incessant rain at Zoumoal village in Manipur’s Chandel district has claimed the lives of 20 people on Sunday, August 2.

Superintendent of police, Herojit Singh told the Indian Express that a police team has been sent to the spot which is located near Indo-Myanmar border. “Police reinforcements reached the area and were trying to remove the rubble to trace the missing people”, he added.

Reports said the recent floods in the state are the worst in the last two hundred years. An estimated one lakh people have been affected.
