A CBSE official told TOI that the number of applications received for verification were, in fact, large and that the errors could be a result of totaling mistake, a detachment of supplementary sheets or incorrect marks being mentioned on the front page.

Notably, CBSE currently allows only verification. Re-evaluation of marks is done only after a court order.

Recently, the Orissa High Court asked the CBSE to re-evaluate the answer sheets of at least 159 more students, who approached the court alleging discrepancies in their class XII results.

On May 28, the CBSE had announced the results for Class 12 examinations. Raksha Gopal from Amity International School in Noida had topped the examinations. The pass percentage was reported to be 1% lower than last year’s 82%.
