Meet The Imam From Istanbul Who Has Turned A Mosque A Shelter For Stray Cats

An Imam, who turned a mosque into a shelter for the stray cats of the city, has won the internet.

Imam Mustafa Efe treats them like “guests” of the mosque, and even the cats made themselves quite at home, reports Daily sabah.

As the worshippers come to the mosque to pray, they find cats of many different sizes and colours sitting and roaming around the plush carpets.

Imam started this noble work of saving the cats from harsh weather in the winter of 2015.

One of the cats took her kittens one by one inside the mosque and placed them at one spot.

The visitors too capture them during their visit to the mosque.

The city of Istanbul is known for the number of cats residing in the city, it is so high that it was also called as ‘Catstantinople’.

There are even Facebook pages dedicated to these fury creatures.
