Indian cricketer Mithali Raj achieved a rare feat when she represented India against South Africa in Vadodara, on Wednesday September 9.
According to India Today, she became the only woman cricketer to complete 20 years in international cricket.
After spending 20 years and 105 days in international cricket, Mithali Raj now sits in great company of cricketers.
She now finds herself in a list that features Sachin Tendulkar (22 years and 91 days), Sanath Jayasuriya (21 years and 184 days) and Javed Miandad (20 years and 272 days).
Making her debut against Ireland on June 26, 1999, Mithali, who was playing her first game since March, has been a right-handed batsman serving the Indian team with great determination and integrity.
She also holds the record for playing the maximum number of ODIs in women’s cricket.
She has played 204 ODIs and is followed by England’s Charlotte Edwards (191), India’s Jhulan Goswami (178) and Alex Blackwell (144) of Australia.
Apart from a promising ODI record, Mithali has represented India in 10 Tests and 89 T20I matches.
After leading India to the final of the 2017 Women’s World Cup, Mithali is keen on making it count in what will be her final 50-over World Cup in 2021.
