16-Year-Old Weighlifting Sensation Jeremy Does India Proud Again, Smashes 3 Records All At Once

Jeremy Lalrinnunga, a Youth Olympics gold medallist from Mizoram broke three records at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship this Thursday.

The 16-year-old lifter broke the Youth World, Asian and Commonwealth records in the snatch category with a lift of 136 kgs. He was competing in the 67-kg category.

Despite breaking these records, the lifter failed to register a clean and jerk lift, and hence was unable to register a total lift score at the gold level Olympic qualifying event. These points are important as they will be considered in the final rankings for the Tokyo 2020 cut. 

Overall, Indian lifters put a good show, collectively bagging four golds, two silvers and a bronze.
