In yet another case of mob taking law into its own hand, a 25-year-old Muslim man was assaulted by a group of men in Jharkhand’s Bokaro town after they allegedly found him in a compromising position with a woman, a report in Hindustan Times says.

Sakib Ansari, who has suffered multiple injuries on his head, neck, legs and back, is battling for life at the hospital, the report added.

According to police, Ansari was rescued by police in a state of unconsciousness from the mob of 50-odd men.

As per the HT report, when people of the town turned up at a common service centre for different documentation-related needs, they allegedly found Ansari half-naked with a woman at the Heena Market Pragya Kendra of Bokaro.

This infuriated the locals who dragged him out of the centre and started beating him with sticks, belts, shoes and slippers.

However, this version of the incidents was rejected by his Ansari’s uncle.

According to a report published in The Citizen.in, the victim’s uncle alleged that Ansari was targeted due to his “religious identity.” He also said there are no allegations of any girl against him, as claimed by the mob.

Police has registered an FIR against unnamed persons and arrested one person in the case so far. Police is also looking into the CCTV footage of the incident.

However, a clip showing some men hitting and kicking Ansari has gone viral on social media.
