Mother And Son Take Higher Secondary Exam. Mother Scores 1st Div, Son Barely Makes A 3rd

This mother from Assam, helped her son in every possible way, with all her efforts and dedication just like any other mom on earth. But she touched another benchmark of excellence after taking the higher secondary exam with her son and outperforming him in the results.

“My efforts have borne fruit, but I would have enjoyed my result more had my son done better. He has to have a career that can lift us from poverty,” said Nayanmoni Bezbaruah (37).

Nayanmoni, native of a small village in Moran town, Asssam, made it to the first division with 69.8% marks in her HS exam. She also scored better marks in sociology, reports Hindustan Times.

At her late thirties what she did is more than commendable. But surprisingly this score wasn’t enough to make her happy as her son, Ankur barely managed to pass in third division.

“The son lacked the motivation of the mother, who slogged more at home and in school to become an inspiration for women who have to abandon studies to raise families,” Sontora Gogoi, the principal of Khowang Pithubor Girls’ HS School told HT.

Waking up at 4 am, Nayanmoni’s days would begin with winding up household work, then she would cycle for 12 km to school. In the night, a fter putting her children to bed, she finally would do her own studies.

Her willingness and sincerity towards education and culture was noticed by the locals who forced her to take the secondary examination in the year 2013.

Nayanmoni is passionate about Assamese poems and hopes to pen down a few in near future.

We hope to get more of such success stories of women from every nook and corner of this country.
