When Madhya Pradesh Agriculture minister Gauri Shankar Bisen visited a primary school in Indore on Saturday, ‘general knowledge’ acquired an all-new meaning.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, Bisen visited the elementary classes on Saturday and asked them various questions pertaining to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

His visit was part of ‘Mile Banche Madhya Pradesh’, a programme held on February 18 where educated professionals were to play the role of a teacher for a day at government schools.

As per the report, Bisen questioned the students as to who is the Prime Minister of India, what is the symbol of BJP, when was the party established and so on.

Asked why he posed such questions to students, Bisen replied that both he and the prime minister belonged to the BJP so the kids ought to know about the “ruling party.”

This, however, was probably not the brief that the minister must have been provided. Under the programme, the professionals were supposed to read out a portion of any Hindi book. Along with this, they were supposed to motivate children to read out any portion of their interest from any other book in order to establish an educational dialogue between the students and the teacher.

The public relation officer informed PTI that along with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, ministers, public representatives and officers, about 16,500 youth registered for this programme.
