This MP Turning An Oath Session At Parliament Into A Roasting Forum Today Is Pure Gold

With political environment as tense as it is in India, Parliament sessions can be very stressful.

I mean, we have all seen people talking over each other, shouting and gesturing among other things.

But, the Joint session of Parliament held today, to elect the Lok Sabha speaker, was different. And in fact was supposed to be more of a roasting session, courtesy of MP Ramdas Athawale.

The Rajya Sabha member took the stage to congratulate the newly-appointed speaker Om Birla, but it turned funny real quick.

Deccan Chronicle

Addressing Rahul Gandhi, he congratulated him for continuing to sit in Parliament..

Rahul ji aapko wahan baithne ka mauka mila isiliye aapko badhai deta hoon.

He then dived right into the details of why he switched parties from Congress to BJP, without mincing his words at all.

Jab apki satta thi tab main aapke saath tha. Chunav ke pehle mujhe Congress waale bol rahe the idhar aao. Maine hawa ka rukh dekha ki woh Modi ji ki taraf ja rahi hai.

To our pleasant surprise, his humour was met with laughs from both, the ruling party and the opposition (big props to Mr. Gandhi here).

It’s not every day that we see politicians like this, can we have more sessions like these please?
