More than two months ago the Chandrayaan-2 mission was only partially successful, as ISRO lost communication with the Vikram Lander, 2.1 Kms away from the Lunar surface.
Multiple efforts were then made by Nasa’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera team to locate the exact position of the Vikram Lander.
And now, NASA has located the debris of the Vikram Lander, with help from Shanmuga Subramanian, a Chennai-based techie.
Using the photos released by NASA, Shanmuga Subramanian pointed out the exact location by exploring the images in detail on his laptop. According to NDTV, Shanmuga shared how he exactly located the debris by comparing an old image with the new images released by NASA:
I did it (searching for the debris on the images) for 3 to 4 days and once I found it, I tweeted to NASA. I knew they’d take some time to confirm the news. And finally, today they replied.
