She Used To Be A National Level Shooter But Is Now Selling Noodles From A Cart

Financial constraint can turn out to be a major hindrance for aspiring individuals who have the potential to achieve bigger goals in their domain of excellence. Many talented individuals in the country are facing such problems. One such story is of 21-year-old Pushpa Gupta who is a national level shooter.

Pushpa, who came to limelight recently, left the ‘expensive’ sport and started selling noodles from a cart in order to earn a living and support her family. She hangs her shiny medal on the cart so that the customers know about her achievements.

“I had joined college in 2013 and it was there that I discovered that I have skills in shooting. I joined the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and it supported me financially. I represented Gujarat in the sport as well. Then I started getting interest in the sport,” Pushpa Gupta told ANI.

Pushpa’s journey started in 2013 where she used to get financial assistance from the NCC course. But as soon as the course got over, she was unable to continue with the sport as it was way too expensive and the financial aid from the military organisation also ended.

Former athlete Sunita Godara said that Pushpa should have got a government job by now for her achievements.

Eventually, she had to discontinue with the sport and start some business in order to earn a living. Since then she has been selling noodles from a lorry.
