Newly Married Navy Officer Sacrificed His Life While Fighting Fire Onboard INS Vikramaditya

Officers of the Indian armed forces have sacrificed their lives time and again in the line of duty.

In one such incident, a naval officer, Lieutenant Commander DS Chauhan lost his life dousing a fire that broke out onboard INS Vikramaditya.

Spokesperson of the Indian Navy tweeted about the loss of the brave officer.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the officer bravely led the firefighting efforts and succeeded in controlling the fire, but lost consciousness due to smoke.

It was because of his timely intervention that the fire could be brought under control.

As per reports, Lt. Cdr Chauhan from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, had got married just a month ago.

Talking to Hindustan Times, one of the navy officials said:

“Chauhan put himself in harm’s way fully knowing it could prove fatal for him. Officers and men like him make our navy what it is… always mission ready.”

Tributes poured in on Twitter as people praised the braveheart for his exemplary courage.
