NIA Officer Shot Dead Infront Of His Children In UP, Agency Calls It A ‘Planned Attack’

A National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer was shot dead while his wife was injured by bike-borne assailants in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh.

Mohammad Tanzil was from Border Security Force and had joined NIA on deputation six years ago.

The incident reportedly took place last night when Tanzil, NIA Deputy Superintendent of Police, and his family including his wife Farzana and two children were returning home from a wedding.

The officer succumbed to bullet injuries on the way to hospital. His wife, who also suffered bullet injuries is undergoing treatment at at Fortis Hospital, Noida. The two children were unhurt. 

Mohd Tanzil’s brother, Raghib Ahmed told NDTV, that the officer was shot at 21 times and his wife sustained four bullet injuries. He added that Tanzil was a cheerful person and had no enemies.

Station House Officer Rajkumar told ANI, “He was attending his niece’s marriage. He was with his wife and two children. Two bike-borne assailants shot fire at them. They were referred to the Cosmos hospital”.

A relative of the slain NIA Officer said: “Their children told me, two bike-borne men came and shot him.” She also added that his wife had incurred injuries during the attack.
