Remember This Nigerian ‘Witch’ Baby Abandoned On A Street? He’s A Lot Better Now

You might remember the story of a two-year-old Nigerian boy, who was abandoned because he was suspected of being a witch. He was actually suffering from a physical condition called Hypspadias. Months after he was rescued by a Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Loven, the child is recovering quickly.

The child named Hope, was affected by a condition in which one has an incomplete development of the urethra, and is affected by infections. After he had been abandoned, Anja found him on the streets, where he had been wandering for eight months. A picture of Anja giving him water went viral.

But the aid worker now has some good news. She posted on her Facebook page that doctors hope to correct the congenital condition of Hope, and he will soon undergo surgery for further treatment.

“As you can see on the pictures Hope is really enjoying his life now having 35 new brothers and sisters who ALL take such good care of him, play with him, study with him, and make sure he is safe and is getting a lot of love,” she wrote.
