At a recent press conference in Haridwar, yoga guru Ramdev said that population in India can be controlled if the government takes away voting rights from the third-born in a family.

These were his exact words:

“India’s population should not be more than 150 crore in the next 50 years as we are not prepared or ready to bear more than that.”

He further added:

“This is only possible when the government makes a law that third child would not be allowed to vote, neither contest election nor he or she enjoys any type of privileges and facilities given by the government.”

According to him people will not give birth to more children if such a law is enacted.

It seems Baba Ramdev takes voting rights quite seriously. Earlier in January he said that voting rights of those having more than two children should be revoked.

He also demanded a complete ban on cow-slaughter and liquor in India.

Twitter also had a lot to say about his remarks.
