A Parliamentary Meeting On Delhi’s Pollution Was Cancelled After Only 4 Members Showed Up

While Delhi’s air-quality plummeted to an all-time low, a high-level meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Urban Development on the city’s deteriorating air quality stood postponed today after the top officials remained absent.

The Municipal Commissioners of all three corporations failed to show up and the key meet on pollution stood cancelled after top officers, including the secretary and joint secretary did not attend it.

Reports suggest that the Union Environment Minister, Prakash Javadekar has assured that he will look into the matter.

The officials were supposed to meet after the air quality in the NCR and its adjoining areas plunged to the ‘severe’ category.

As Delhi continues to gasp for fresh air, this kind of negligence by the authorities is not acceptable to the people. Many of them took to Twitter to express their anger.

At a time when it is becoming difficult for Delhiites to survive, this kind of irresponsible behaviour from people’s representatives is not only unacceptable but also infuriating.
