Higher Fines, More Compensation For Accident Victims. What The New Motor Vehicles Act Says

The Lok Sabha on Monday approved a bill for radical reforms in transport sector that will usher in multi-fold hike in fine for traffic violations, compensation of Rs 5 lakh for grave injuries, and check bogus licences and vehicle theft. 

The bill, which seeks to amend nearly 30-year-old Motor Vehicle Act 1988 addresses various issues such as road safety, accident victims and insurance.
