People Are Lauding This Arunachal Pradesh Vendor For Selling Fish In Leaves & Ditching Plastic

Akanksha Bhatia

India placed a countrywide ban on single use plastic products, starting October 2. However, the ban has been shelved for now but that hasn’t stopped people from trying their best to change their ways. A fisherman from Arunachal Pradesh has taken the opportunity to wrap his fish up in a new, innovative and eco-friendly way!

Using a leaf to wrap up the meat and tying it up with coconut fibers, this trend is on a rise  in the North-Eastern states in India. A happy customer even shared a tweet applauding this wrapping technique.

While some questioned the supply of leaves and if this method would lead to cutting down of trees, most Twitter users applauded the initiative taken by these local vendors and even shared pictures of their own contritbution towards an eco-friendly environment.
