People Are Sharing Pics Of Red Squares In Solidarity With Kashmir After Article 370 Was Revoked

The government of India revoked article 370, today. Which means that it will no longer have a special status and will become a Union Territory in future.

Jammu and Kashmir will be divided into two parts, with Ladakh being a separate Union territory without legislation.

As people across the country try to make sense of everything, a trend has been noticed on social media where they are sharing a red square to show solidarity with Kashmir.

The trend started yesterday after the government announced a shut-down across the state and stopped all internet and communications services.

This was before any kind of announcement and created a sense of confusion in the people. To show support to the people of Kashmir in the time of uncertainty, social media users started sharing a plain red picture.

But why the colour red? As per the post, this is the answer:

Red is the colour of our blood. Red is the colour of our history. Red is all of us.

Started by the account withkashmir, the idea behind this was to bring global attention to the region.

In the lead up to this huge announcement, many big Kashmiri leaders were put under house arrest, a move criticised by many. For now, Article 370 stands revoked with immediate effect as government keeps a close tab on activities in the region.
