A video showing three Uttar Pradesh police cops mercilessly thrashing an alleged pickpocket has gone viral on social and electronic media prompting the UP Police top brass to order a probe in the incident.
The video shows third degree methods being used during the questioning of the alleged pickpocket.
Police said the youth from Mainpuri, Rupesh alias Pullu, was caught near Muchehra petrol pump on Etah-Mainpuri road on November 27 and brought to the Saifai police station on charges committing pickpocketing.
On Thursday, three policemen – Sub-Inspector Avdhesh Kumar, and constables Gulab Singh and Arvind Singh – were suspended after the incident came to surface.
SSP Manjil Saini has also ordered a probe by Circle Officer Saifai AK Dixit.
