Tamil Nadu Police Arrest Man Who Uploaded Morphed Photo Of Woman On Facebook

The Tamil Nadu Police on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly uploading on Facebook morphed photographs of a 21-year-old woman who committed suicide on June 25, reports Indian Express.

The woman, Vinupriya, a BSc Graduate, was found dead at her residence in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district on Monday after facing harassment over multiple morphed obscene photos of her posted on the social networking site.

Police told NDTV that the accused named Suresh works for a power loom where he met Vinupriya who used to come there to collect material for embroidery work.

“Suresh uploaded her morphed obscene pictures using his mobile phone in vengeance as she did not reciprocate his advances,” said Amit Kumar, a senior police official.

The arrest comes a day after Facebook shared the photo uploader’s IP address with the police.

The Salem superintendent of police, Amit Kumar Singh, had earlier apologised to the girl’s parents over police personnel demanding bribe for acting on the case and promised to probe the allegations against the police.
